Ignorant of the entirety of the occasions occurring back in North Carolina, Lula and Sailor proceed on their way until—as per Lula—they witness a terrible sign: the consequence of a two-fender bender, and the main survivor, a young lady, bites the dust before them. With minimal expenditure left, Sailor sets out toward Big Tuna, Texas, where he contacts “old companion” Perdita Durango, who may have the option to support them, in spite of the fact that she furtively realizes he is under agreement to be executed by Lula’s mom. While Sailor consents to get together with hoodlum Bobby Peru in a feed store burglary, Lula sits tight for him in the lodging, attempting to cover that she is pregnant with Sailor’s kid. While Sailor is out Peru goes into the room and explicitly attacks Lula, constraining her to request that he engage in sexual relations with her, before leaving, expressing he has no time. This damages Lula, who was assaulted as a kid.
The theft turns out badly when Peru superfluously shoots the two assistants. Peru at that point admits to Sailor he’s been contracted to execute him and Sailor acknowledges he has been given a gun with sham ammo. Driving Sailor out of the store, Peru is going to execute him when the sheriff’s representative starts shooting at him and Peru incidentally blows his own brains out with his own shotgun. Mariner is captured and condemned to six years in jail.
